Open Innovation and Public-Private Partnerships
Professor Raj Thampuran, Managing Director, Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore, gave a public lecture entitled "Open Innovation and Public-Private Partnerships" at HKU on January 25, 2016. Professor Thampuran elaborates on the importance of R&D and innovation for Singapore's economic transformation and growth, and A*STAR's role in Singapore's innovation system, as the primary mission-oriented government agency tasked with advancing innovation-based growth.

KE in The Review 2015
The Review 2015 looks back at another fruitful year for knowledge exchange developments and our researchers' strong efforts in translating knowledge and discovery into impact. "Our ultimate goal is to achieve the greatest societal benefits from our teaching and research, and in this respect HKU has been a leader in Hong Kong. We have been building capacity and developing strategies that take our know-how from the campus to the community through technology transfer, entrepreneurship and knowledge exchange," says Professor Peter Mathieson, President and Vice-Chancellor.

Knowledge Exchange Awards 2015
The Faculty Knowledge Exchange (KE) Awards were introduced in 2011 in order to recognize each Faculty’s outstanding KE accomplishment that has made demonstrable economic, social or cultural impacts to benefit the community, business/industry, or partner organizations. Results of the 2015 Faculty KE Awards are now available.

Student KE Projects 2014/15
The Student KE Project Grant Scheme was introduced in 2011/12 under the KE Funding Exercise. It aims to promote a student culture of contributing to society through applying their knowledge gained at HKU; to nurture the spirit of innovation among students; and to promote the development of engagement projects between students of the University and external organizations. Since 2014/15, the student KE project grants are administered under the Service 100 Fund of the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS).

The Review 2014 looks back at another fruitful year for knowledge exchange and also looks ahead to further developments. "HKU scholars have been actively bringing their findings into the community through knowledge exchange. I hope we can take these activities further by focusing more on the question of 'impact'," says Professor Peter Mathieson, President and Vice-Chancellor. "We have a moral responsibility to engage the public in what we are doing and to use our knowledge to inform public debate. This is an area where HKU has much potential to lead in Hong Kong and the region, and we will be doing more in this direction in future."

The Faculty Knowledge Exchange (KE) Awards were introduced in 2011 in order to recognize each Faculty's outstanding KE accomplishment that has made demonstrable economic, social or cultural impacts to benefit the community, business/industry, or partner organizations. Following the successful launch of the Faculty KE Awards, the KE Award (Non-Faculty Unit) was introduced in 2012 with the same objective for the independent centres, institutes and units of the University. Results of the 2014 KE Awards are now available.
