The Innovation Behind Pearl Powder Face Masks

The Pearl Power Research Institute (PPRI) is pioneering skincare innovation with its new pearl powder face mask, built on a patented antioxidant technology. This face mask stands out because it utilises a high concentration of natural pearl powder from accredited local fish farms in Hong Kong, ensuring both safety and traceability. Unlike many competitors that add minimal amounts of generic pearl powder, this mask employs a proprietary dispersion method that enhances absorption, delivering more active materials effectively to the skin.

Integrating Science and Innovation: Research on Liquid Crystal and Topological Order

Prof. Zi Yang Meng from HKU’s Department of Physics is at the forefront of exploring the fascinating relationship between liquid crystal order and topological order in two-dimensional flat-band systems. This groundbreaking study was first featured as part of a Croucher Advanced Study Institute on Fractional Chern Insulators (FCIs)—a newly discovered state of matter that represents a cutting-edge advancement in quantum research.

“Universal Access” for All: Disability Mainstreaming in Web Development

The project entitled “Universal Access” for All is an innovative educational platform developed under the lead of Prof. T.H. Tse, Honorary Professor at HKU’s School of Computing and Data Science. This initiative focuses on two crucial principles: Universal Design and Modern Web Design and demonstrates a significant social impact by promoting inclusion for web developers with profound disabilities.
