Biography

Professor Samuel Ho is the Associate Head and Professor in psychology at Department of Applied Social Sciences, the City University of Hong Kong. He is also the Chair of the Knowledge Transfer Committee of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at City University of Hong Kong. His primary research interest is in clinical health psychology which he focuses on traumatology and resilience. He has developed an in-depth knowledge about the factors that facilitate adjustments to traumatic events. As a registered clinical psychologist and a researcher, his early work focused on the study of happiness. Recently, another research direction of Professor Ho is to introduce the studies of positive psychology to the research of clinical health psychology. He is currently working on how to apply the principles of positive psychology and clinical psychotherapy to help people with depression. Professor Ho is one of the representatives of positive psychology in Asia; his research findings are widely cited in medicine, health and clinical psychology magazines. His views on positive psychology have been incorporated into positive psychology teaching materials.
