Professor Simon N.M. Young received the Faculty Knowledge Exchange (KE) Award 2013 of the Faculty of Law for the 'Human Rights Portal' project.
Abstract:
For many years now, human rights law has been an area of strength and strategic importance for HKU's Law Faculty. Our Master of Laws programme in Human Rights is well known regionally and internationally. The Centre for Comparative and Public Law has hosted hundreds of conferences, seminars, projects, visitors and scholars in the human rights area. Could there be some way to capture this accumulated body of knowledge and experience and share it with others for years to come? The idea of the Human Rights Portal was the answer to this challenge. In this seminar, the speaker will share how the project came to life as a result of the HKU KE Impact Project funding, how the Portal was built in-house using Word Press, the strategy for branding and promoting the Portal, and the use of Google Analytics to track the worldwide use and potential impact of the Portal.
