Startup Highlight: WeGoAlgae
Revolutionising Air Purification with Microalgae!
Introducing WeGoALGAE, the innovative start-up that is transforming the sustainability landscape with microalgae photobioreactors that are more efficient and environmentally friendly than traditional plants and commercial purifiers.
Co-founded by landscape architecture students Jingyang Guo (JY) and Helen Wong Hei Lui from HKU, WeGoALGAE’s compact photobioreactors utilise photosynthesis to eliminate pollutants and generate oxygen, whilst occupying 50% less space than conventional greenery. WeGoALGAE offers educational kits, home-use purifiers, and large-scale installations for commercial spaces. Their upcoming science kits aim to educate the younger generation about sustainability and air quality.
Balancing studies and entrepreneurship is challenging for the team, but support from TEC and HKSTP has been crucial—providing guidance on market research, prototype development, and networking, as well as promoting their products—to facilitate WeGoALGAE's growth.
Now based in the Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing, WeGoALGAE continues to evolve, hosting workshops and advocating for a cleaner, greener future.
