Entrepreneurship Academy 2024
The Entrepreneurship Academy 2024 has come to a successful finale, drawing over 1,400 registrations for its engaging lectures.
Throughout the past 10 weeks, participants had the remarkable opportunity to enhance their entrepreneurial skills through dynamic sessions led by industry leaders, including venture capitalists, startup founders, and domain experts. These leaders shared their invaluable insights on global trends, current hot topics, and strategies for market development.
Appreciation is extended to everyone who joined and actively participated, contributing to the resounding success of EA 2024. For those just starting their entrepreneurial journey or seeking to elevate their professional abilities, the hope is that the sessions proved to be as enriching and valuable as anticipated.

Knowledge Transfer Forum (Beijing-Hong Kong Edition)
The Knowledge Transfer Forum (Beijing-Hong Kong Edition) on Artificial Intelligence and Medical Healthcare was successfully held on 8 November 2024. The event drew an impressive audience, with over 150,000 viewers participating through live streaming.
Among the distinguished guest speakers were Dr Serena Yang, Founder and CEO of the AI and Life Sciences Institute (Hong Kong) Ltd, who shared insights on the potential of AI to innovate biology. Dr Christine Yuan Huang, Founder and CEO of Quantum Life Ltd, also spoke, addressing the transformative potential of AI-driven longevity medicine for enhancing human health spans.

Campus Engagement Through Showcase of Research Impact
KEO recently hosted a showcase of research impact. Participants took a simple survey about their understanding of knowledge exchange. Our KE Ambassadors also shared research insights and expanded their networks with professors and peers, all aimed at making a difference in academia. Attendees connected with fellow students passionate about knowledge exchange and explored opportunities to contribute to impactful research at HKU. The event fostered innovation and collaboration. Thank you to everyone who visited our KE promotion booth!

InnoCarnival 2024
The Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) successfully held InnoCarnival 2024 from 26 October to 3 November 2024, at the Hong Kong Science Park! This year's theme, "Let's Sail with Innovation and Technology", put a spotlight on the remarkable achievements in local innovation and technology. Many faculties from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) played an active role in the event, showcasing their groundbreaking research and projects. They engaged visitors with interactive exhibits and presentations, allowing attendees to experience firsthand the creativity and innovation being developed at HKU. The event provided a vital platform for collaboration and inspiration, attracting numerous participants eager to explore the future of technology. It not only highlighted HKU's contributions to the innovation and technology landscape but also aligned with the broader celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.
Overall, InnoCarnival 2024 was a resounding success, uniting academia, industry, and the community in a celebration of innovation.

Collaborative Research Colloquium with Ministry of Science and Technology and National Innovation Centres
On 30 October 2024, Versitech and TEC hosted the Collaborative Research Colloquium in partnership with China’s Ministry of Science and Technology and ten National Innovation Centres. The two-hour event was attended by over 40 participants, including visitors, professors, and researchers from HKU. Vice President Vivian Yam opened the event with a welcome speech, and HKU researchers showcased their latest research areas and achievements. This event marks the beginning of efforts to foster mutual understanding and establish relationships between HKU and the national innovation centres, paving the way for meaningful exchanges and collaborations.

Meeting with TCL and GE Tech
On 24 October 2024, Versitech held a productive meeting with TCL and GE Tech to explore potential collaborations. The discussion focused on establishing a joint laboratory dedicated to artificial intelligence in manufacturing and supply chains. This marks the beginning of negotiations, and we will work closely with external partners and HKU stakeholders to finalise the plans and achieve a mutually beneficial partnership.

Surrich International Meeting with Prof Liang Shunlin
On 24 October 2024, a productive meeting took place with Surrich International, an investment fund, in the presence of Professor Liang Shunlin. The attendees were presented with invaluable insights into the fund’s innovative research initiatives. This experience not only highlighted their potential but also initiated discussions regarding various investment opportunities that could further bolster their significant work in remote sensing.

China FAW Group Delegation
Versitech, in collaboration with the Business School, School of Computer and Data Science, and the China Affairs Office, welcomed a delegation from the R&D Group Institute of China Faw Group Co. Ltd. to discuss potential collaboration opportunities with HKU.

In conjunction with EEE Professors Han WANG and Yuhao ZHANG, a meeting was held with NEXPERIA from the Netherlands to explore collaboration opportunities.
